MCP servers in conversation AI: your agent works with the apps your business already uses

Your Conversation AI agent can now use your existing apps in the middle of a conversation. You can connect an MCP server from the Marketplace, such as Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Canva, Zapier or Apify, or add your own by URL. You decide which tools the agent can use and explain when it should use each server. During a chat, the agent calls the app, reads the result, and replies to your customer using up-to-date data.

Many customer questions depend on information stored outside EveryCatch, like opening hours in a calendar, prices in a spreadsheet, or policies in a document. Before this change, those questions often had to wait for a team member. With MCP servers, your agent can look up that information itself and help customers right away.

    Key capabilities

    • New MCP Servers section in the agent builder: In any Conversation AI agent, you can now click Connect MCP Server to add up to 5 MCP servers to that agent.
    • 40+ servers in the Marketplace, or bring your own: Browse or search the Marketplace to find servers, or click Add custom MCP, give it a name, and paste its HTTPS URL. Any MCP servers you have already connected will appear at the top of the list so you can reuse them quickly.

    • Tell the agent when to use each server: The field When should this MCP be used? is required (up to 500 characters). For example: "When a customer asks about open appointment times, check the calendar." You can also set What to say after using this MCP server (up to 300 characters) if you want the agent to mention where the answer came from or add a short explanation.

    • You choose the tools: Each MCP server shows a list of tools it provides, and every tool starts enabled. Untick any tool you do not want the agent to use so, for example, a calendar server can read availability without having permission to delete events.

    • Follow-up questions work naturally: For each contact, the agent remembers what it looked up for 2 hours. If the customer follows up with something like "send me that file", the agent can respond based on what it already fetched, without repeating the whole process.
    • Automatic retries on failed calls: If a server rejects a call because of a missing or incorrect value, the agent will adjust the call and try again, up to 2 times within the same turn, to improve the chance of a successful response.
    • Safe by default: Contacts do not see tool or server names unless you have told the agent to name the source. The agent replies using only the data returned from the server, and only accounts that are connected under the agent's own account are available to use.
    • Visibility into activity: Every call displays as MCP - (tool name) in the AI response details, and you can review the full result in Agent Logs. The dashboard now includes an MCP Calls card, and these calls are also counted within Total Actions.

What you can do with it

    • Live availability: check Google Calendar and offer customers accurate open time slots.
    • Answers from your documents: pull policies, menus, and service information directly from Google Docs or Google Drive.
    • Price and stock lookups: read current price lists or inventory from Google Sheets before answering a question.
    • Share the right file: find a brochure or form in Google Drive and send the link in the conversation.
    • Custom systems: connect your own MCP server by URL so the agent can look up orders, bookings, or other data from the systems your business runs on.

    How to get started

    1. Enable MCP support for Conversation AI in Settings → Labs.
    2. Go to AI Agents → Conversation AI, open your agent, and expand the MCP Servers section.
    3. Click Connect MCP Server, then select a server from the list or click Add custom MCP.
    4. Under Accounts, click Add account to connect the app, or select an account you have already connected.
    5. Fill in When should this MCP be used? and, if you want, What to say after using this MCP server.
    6. Untick any tools that you do not want the agent to use, then click Save.
    7. Send a test message to the agent, then open the AI response details or Agent Logs to review each MCP call and its result.

    Important notes

    • Channels: MCP servers work on every channel where Conversation AI can reply.
    • Limits: each agent can use up to 5 MCP servers, with one connection per server.
    • Account matching: the app account must be connected under the same account as the agent. If you duplicate an agent, EveryCatch checks the account connection again.
    • Response time: if a server is slow to respond, replies that use that server may take a few extra seconds to send.
    • Testing behavior: the test chat inside the builder does not remember lookups between messages. In real customer conversations, the 2-hour memory for lookups applies.

    Availability

MCP servers in Conversation AI are currently available in Labs. You can enable this under Settings → Labs → MCP support for Conversation AI.
