Skills in the AI agent action in workflows

Your EveryCatch AI agent can now learn reusable skills. A skill is a saved procedure the agent only loads when a workflow run needs it. You write it once, keep it in your skills library, and attach it to any AI agent action in workflows.

    What changed

A skills section in every AI agent

    • Skills now appears right below Tools in the AI agent action and stays collapsed until you open it.
    • Each attached skill appears as a row. Hover over a row to edit the skill or detach it from this action.

Three ways to add a skill

    • Create with AI: The AI assistant asks what the skill should do, when it should run, and what it must never do. It then drafts the full skill for you to review. Nothing is saved until you select Create.
    • Write skill instructions: Fill in three fields: Name, When should the agent use this?, and Instructions. You can click Enhance prompt to refine the wording in one step.
    • Add existing skill: Search your skills library, click any skill to read the full details, then attach it to the action.

Four built in skills, ready on day one

Every EveryCatch account includes four skills tagged Built-in. You can attach, edit, or delete them the same way you work with any other skill.

    • Humanizer: Removes common AI-style writing patterns from any message.
    • Write-well: Keeps messages clear, simple, and direct.
    • Cold-email: Writes first-touch and follow-up emails to leads who have not replied yet.
    • Sms-writer: Writes short, natural-sounding text messages.

    Loaded only when relevant

    • On each run, the agent first reads only the Name and the When should the agent use this? line for every attached skill.
    • The full skill instructions load only when the current run matches that usage line.
    • If a run matches several skills, the agent loads all of them together. For example, one outreach email can use both Cold-email and Humanizer in the same run.

    How to use

    1. Go to Automation > Workflows.
    2. Open a workflow, then add a new AI agent action or open an existing one.
    3. Scroll down to the Skills section and expand it.
    4. Click + Add skill and choose Create with AI, Write skill instructions, or Add existing skill.
    5. Review the skill details, then click Create & attach or Attach.
    6. Save the AI agent action.

Worked example: one agent, every kind of lead

A heating and cooling company follows up on every quote request with both an email and a text message. Some leads report emergencies, and those cases need a different response.

The AI agent action is set up like this

    1. Instructions: "Send the lead one email and one SMS that thank them, restate their request, and offer a time to talk."
    2. Tools: Send email and Send SMS.
    3. Skills: Cold-email, Sms-writer, and a custom skill named Emergency service requests.

The custom skill triggers on this line: "Use when a lead reports no heat, no cooling, a gas smell, or a water leak, or says the request is urgent." Its instructions tell the agent to offer the next same-day slot, never quote a price, and, for a gas smell, send safety steps first and never book a visit.

A routine quote request gets a friendly email and a short text. A lead who writes "no heat since last night" gets a same-day slot. A lead who reports a gas smell gets safety steps first. You keep one agent, one main set of instructions, and the skills handle the different situations for you.

    Why this matters

Your main instructions stay short and readable. Rules that apply only in certain situations move into skills, so each action describes its core job clearly.

You write a skill once and use it across your account. Any AI agent in EveryCatch can use the same skill, and when you update the skill, every agent that uses it follows the new version.

The agent focuses on the current task. Situational rules only come into play when the situation appears, and several skills can combine in a single run when needed.

    Good to know

    • Skills are shared objects. When you edit a skill, the change applies to every action that uses that skill.
    • Detach removes a skill from one specific action. Delete removes it from your skills library and from every action that uses it.
    • A skill explains how the agent should handle something, but the agent still needs the right tools, such as Send SMS, to carry it out.
    • A skill can rely on a knowledge base. Mention the knowledge base by name in the skill instructions, and add the Knowledge base search tool to the action so the agent can use it.
