What happened when a plumbing company stopped missing evening enquiries

June 17, 2026

A plumbing company in Manchester runs with an owner and two engineers. Enquiries come in across the website, Google Business Profile, Facebook, and direct calls. The owner handles all non-call enquiries personally, fitting responses in between jobs.

In an average month, around 52 enquiries arrived across all channels. In practice, roughly 34 received a response. The remaining 18 were arriving in the evening or at weekends, getting buried alongside other messages, or landing while the owner was mid-job. Those 18 went unanswered until the following day or later, by which point most had moved on. Of the 34 that received a response, 35 percent converted to a booked job, producing 12 jobs per month. At an average job value of £310, monthly revenue from new enquiries sat at £3,720.

The owner had no clear sense of the 18 missed enquiries as a specific number. His experience was that some leads simply went quiet.

A Speed-to-Lead AI was then configured with the company's services, pricing, service area, and availability, and connected to all enquiry channels. From that point, every enquiry received a response within 60 seconds regardless of when it arrived. The AI handled the opening exchange, answered standard questions, and confirmed appointments directly into the owner's calendar. Human contact at the confirmation stage and on-site was unchanged.

Across the first full month, all 52 enquiries received a response. The conversion rate across the broader pool settled at 33 percent, slightly lower than before because the wider group included more exploratory contacts that had previously never reached the owner at all. Seventeen jobs were booked in the month. Monthly revenue from new enquiries came to £5,270.

Five additional jobs per month. £1,550 in monthly revenue. Annually, £18,600. Eleven of the seventeen jobs booked in that first month came from enquiries that had arrived between 6pm and 9am.
