Redeeming gift cards in offline payment flows

Redeeming gift cards in offline payment flows

July 31, 2026

What changed

You can now redeem a customer’s gift card while you collect or record a payment directly inside EveryCatch. Previously, customers could only apply their gift cards themselves on checkout pages. With this update, your team can enter and apply a customer’s gift card when taking payment on their behalf, so the redemption experience stays consistent across both customer-facing and team-initiated payments.

Whether you are recording a payment, charging a customer right away, or setting up a subscription, EveryCatch now lets you use the customer’s available gift card balance first, then automatically charge any remaining amount to their saved payment method.

Redeem gift cards across business payment flows

Gift card redemption is now supported in these EveryCatch payment flows:

  • Orders → Record payment → Charge a card
  • Invoices → Record payment → Charge a card
  • Contacts → Charge now
  • Contacts → Create subscription
  • Subscriptions → Create subscription

In each of these flows, you can enter a gift card code, validate it, and redeem the available balance as part of the payment process.

Note: For "Create subscription," gift cards currently cannot be redeemed on future-dated or scheduled subscriptions. Support for those cases is planned in an upcoming update.

Consistent redemption experience

Gift card redemption inside EveryCatch follows the same logic as your customer-facing checkouts so you and your customers see predictable results.

  • If the gift card balance covers the full payment amount, the payment is completed using only the gift card.
  • If the gift card balance is lower than the amount due, EveryCatch redeems the gift card balance first and then automatically charges the remaining amount to the customer’s saved payment method.
  • Clear validation messages appear if a gift card is invalid, expired, or has a zero balance.
  • This lets your team confidently accept and apply gift cards no matter who initiates the payment.

Improved payment visibility

Whenever a gift card is redeemed, EveryCatch clearly tracks how it was used so you can review and audit payments easily.

  • Transaction details show exactly how much was redeemed from the gift card.
  • For split payments, the gift card amount is shown separately from any additional amount collected using another payment method.
  • The related gift card order is automatically updated with the new remaining balance after each successful redemption.

Where can I find this?

Gift card redemption is available whenever you collect payments through these areas in EveryCatch:

Payments → Orders → Record payment

Payments → Invoices → Record payment

Contacts → Charge now

Contacts → Create subscription

Payments → Subscriptions → Create subscription

In the payment screen, enter the customer’s gift card code and click Apply before you complete the payment so the balance is redeemed correctly.

What’s next?

The team is continuing to extend gift card redemption to more EveryCatch payment experiences. Planned enhancements include:

  • Gift card redemption when collecting payments through calendars
  • Gift card redemption through POS
  • User permissions that control who can redeem gift cards
  • Validity configuration on individual gift card orders
  • Options to void or cancel issued gift card orders
